When Dogs = Commodities
Following the (inevitable) renewal of Little Rascals’ dog breeding licence this month, it’s worth drawing attention to the reasons why it was always a foregone conclusion they would be able to continue profiting from this vile, callous trade ….
Confirmed by North Kesteven Council (FOIR) – buildings and areas used for the purposes of dog breeding are stipulated by the breeder in order to obtain a Dog Breeding Licence, and that obviously means that any other buildings/areas on the premises, which have not been declared, will not be inspected;
Little Rascals admit to importing and exporting puppies but, according to North Kesteven Council (FOIR), they are not legally required to pass details to the local authority (!):
Current UK animal welfare laws allow dog breeders to keep breeding bitches, stud dogs and puppies in conditions the majority of us wouldn’t dream of inflicting on our own family pets unless, like these puppy farmers, you’re of the opinion that dogs are ‘products’ and exist solely for the purposes of providing a generous income.
As it stands, inspections carried out by North Kesteven Council, their nominated vets and even the RSPCA, are restricted by law. So even if there were grounds for concern, if it’s not covered by the Breeding of Dogs Act 1973 and the Animal Welfare Act 2006 then the proprietors of Little Rascals get away with it and carry on as normal. Of course, that’s assuming North Kesteven Council are adhering to the law in the first place.
A law which states that a single bitch can be made to produce six litters of puppies is cruel and shocking, but unscrupulous UK breeders frequently flout the law forcing breeding bitches into a life of horrific pain and misery.
A law that allows breeding dogs to spend a lifetime in confinement, with only the breeder’s word for it that they’re adequately exercised and socialised (!) is an absolute farce.
A law that allows breeders like Little Rascals to export puppies to anyone and anywhere they please and sell surplus puppies to Pet Stores is a sick joke.
A law that turns a blind eye to breeders who ‘dispose of” dogs at the end of their useful lives is tragic and immoral (FOIR).
To give some idea of the morbidly low animal welfare criteria that exists in UK law, the following images show premises of Fully Licensed, Inspected and Approved UK dog breeders – ALL friends and business acquaintances of Little Rascals’ proprietors:

Pet Shop Puppies
Little Rascals don’t advertise they have a Pet Shop Licence, but they have one and it means, among other things, that they’re able to supply pet stores where it is legal to have puppies on display all day and leave them unattended at night:
Little Rascals claim “All our dogs are very much loved…” – Selling puppies to pet stores where they are confined and on display all day and left alone all night is not something any responsible, moral breeder would do, but then we aren’t talking about decent caring people here because the proprietors of Little Rascals have been raking it in at the expense of animals for over 50 years. ‘Love’ of dogs doesn’t come anywhere near it…

So, we invite Messrs Swindells and Dickens to have a full open day where the public and press have access to all areas, particularly the areas where all of their 200 breeding bitches and 50+ stud dogs are kept. And we also invite them to reveal the names and details of ‘external’ suppliers and recipients of dogs and puppies, including pet shops they supply.
According to Little Rascals’ proprietors, they are responsible breeders with nothing to hide, so our invitation shouldn’t prove too difficult.Puppies For Sale From Little Rascals Licensed Dog Breeders Since 1965, John Boland Snr Puppy Farmer Ireland, John Boland Jnr Puppy Farmer Ireland, Mary Boland Puppy Farmer Ireland, Bridgett Dickens Dog Breeder Little Rascals, Bridgett Donna Dickens, Peter Dickens Little Rascals, Peter William Dickens, Edward Swindells Dog Breeder Little Rascals, Edward Swindells Auctioneers, swindells.co.uk, Edward Robert Dickens, Little Rascals UK Breeders, Little Rascals Pets Ltd, Penny Swindells Dog Breeder Little Rascals, Edward Dickens Little Rascals, Tina Waterfall Little Rascals, Tina Waterfall Swindells, Amy Allen Little Rascals, Lucy Marsden Little Rascals, Aurel Cirpaci Little Rascals, Angelo Cirpaci Little Rascals, Julien Anderi Little Rascals, Sue Ashby Little Rascals, , 9181334, vat 198728246, Little Rascals Pets Ltd OFFICE M153 VILGLEN HOUSE BUSINESS CENTRE ALPERTON LANE WEMBLEY MIDDLESEX ENGLAND HA0 1HD, Little Rascals Brant Broughton Lincoln, Little Rascals Brant Broughton UK Puppy Farm, Little Rascals Brant Broughton UK Puppy Factory, Little Rascals Brant Broughton UK Puppy Mill, Designer Dogs, Designer Breeds, Pedigree Dogs, Pedigree Breeds, Kennel Club Registered, Stud Dogs, Ireland Puppy Farm, Paddy Dooley Kilkenny Road Freshford County Kilkenny, Paddy Dooley Canine Breeders Ireland Ltd, Gerry Smyth Canine Breeders Ireland Ltd, Gerry Smyth 25 Rellan Rd, Rosslea, Michael McKay Dungannon County Tyrone, Michael McKay Canine Breeders Ireland Ltd, Jonathan Hamilton Canine Breeders Ireland, David Hamilton Canine Breeders Ireland, Furnish Kennels 83 Clabby Road Fivemiletown, Jonathan Hamilton David Hamilton Puppy Farmers, BBC Scotland Dog Factory, Liz Baird Puppy Dealer, Orchard House Vet Metheringham, Neale Richards BVSc MRCVS, Nicola Williams BVetMed MRCVS, Little Rascals are proud to announce, PetPlan Breeders Scheme,
